Heather's Place4Pets is a long-established, family-run pet shop offering a small range of hands-on services alongside our in-store animals, food and accessories. Our experienced team focuses on kind handling, clear communication and straightforward, good-value help for local pet owners.
Our dog grooming service is designed for everyday pets rather than show dogs. We focus on keeping your dog clean, comfortable and easy to manage at home.
Typical appointments can include:
- Full trim or partial cut. We do not do "fancy" styling (eg Poodle cuts)
- Basic tidying around feet, face and hygiene areas
- Bath and gentle shampoo suitable for your dog’s coat. ( at your request)
- Brush and blow-dry
- Nail trimming where needed
Most small and medium breeds take around 60–90 minutes. Larger or very knotty coats may take longer and may require more than one visit. For the safety and comfort of your dog, we may decline severely matted coats or recommend a vet visit if we are concerned about skin or health issues.
Please bring your dog on a secure lead and make sure they have had a short walk and chance to toilet before arrival. If your dog is nervous, let us know when you book so we can allow extra time and keep the experience as calm as possible.
Booking an appointment for grooming is best done on the phone although a request can be sent via Facebook or Whatsapp.
Regular claw and beak care helps keep many pets comfortable and mobile. We offer a gentle cutting service for:
- Small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs
- Pet birds, including many small parrots and budgies
- Some reptiles and other small pets – please contact us first to check
Appointments are usually short – around 10–20 minutes per pet – but we always work at the animal’s pace. Our team uses calm handling, and we will stop if a pet becomes too stressed. If we feel a beak or claws need veterinary attention rather than a routine trim, we will explain why and suggest you see a vet.
Please bring your pet in a secure carrier or travel cage, lined with suitable bedding. Birds should arrive in a safe cage that gives us access to them without the risk of escape.
We can often see animals on-the-spot, however contacting us to arrange an appointmen is preferable.
We offer a local home delivery service so you can keep pets supplied without always needing to visit the shop.
Typical items we can deliver include:
- Dog and cat food (most bagged and tinned lines)
- Small animal, bird, fish and reptile foods
- Bedding, hay and litter
- A selection of cages, tanks and accessories – please ask what is currently available
Our delivery area covers Middlesbrough and nearby surrounding streets and estates. We deliver most days of the week by arrangement, at times to suit you, although usually in the afternoon or early evening.
For deliveries further afield we can arrange a "half-way meeting place". We have helped customers as far away as Southport and Glasgow.
A suitable delivery charge will apply depending on your location and the size of your order. We will confirm this when you book.

Heather's Place4Pets can sometimes source more unusual or specialist animals by special order. Animal welfare and the law always come first, so we will only supply species we believe can be kept responsibly in a home environment.
When you enquire, we will talk through:
- Which species you are interested in and your experience level
- Whether the animal is legal and suitable for your home and local climate
- The housing, heating, lighting and diet it will need
- Likely costs, lead times and any deposit required
We will only place an order once we are satisfied you understand what is involved and have (or will have) the right equipment ready. Lead times vary depending on the animal and supplier availability.
